So What is the Mother Goal

Of course there is no Single solution to this issue...or for that matter the thousands of issues that plague our country. But at the same time there is a Clear and Present Danger lurking on our heads and we need to a solution that is truly effective.

So what should be our Mother Goal...the all encompassing...the guiding light for the Change we seek.

Here I draw inspiration from one of the most unpopular persons in the World today, Mr. George W. Bush. All said and done, he ensured that post 9/11, there is no other terrorist attack on Indian Soil. His means of doing so is definitely wrong...but his goal was right.

But the challenge in our country is that there are so many internal feudal forces present across the length  and breadth of our country that our enemies across the border, aka, Pakistan rarely need to send in their people to execute any action. However, this time things were different.

So for starters, our Mother Goal should be to ensure that we strengthen our internal security to a level where are able to protect all our citizens for any future terrorist attack. From this mother goal let derive what should be our sub-goals, or short-term goals.

1. Creation of a Federal Security Agency in lines with FBI...independent of the Political system and possessing all-encompassing powers.
2. Modernization of our police forces - Ensuring our forces have the latest gadgets and arms for surveillance, patrolling, intelligence gathering and of course for counter-attacks.
3. Creation of more crack teams like MARCOS who can go into enemy territory and neutralize all threats to our nation.

But all this needs political will which does not exist today amongst the National Parties.

Therefore its up to us...the youth of the country...to step into the mud and enable the change required to achieve these goals.

Do we really want change

So what are we really seeking...is it change...lets say the govt changes and a now govt comes in power...will it surely solve our problems/issues. I really doubt it.

If a man knows not what harbor he seeks,
any wind is the right wind.
-Seneca

So before we bring in the winds of change, we need to set the right Goals. Once we know are true Goal, we can get a better sense of what needs to Change to achieve that Goal.

In corporate world we say that whatever goals you set for yourself, they should be SMART goals...
Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely.

CHANGE

In the aftermath of the Mumbai attacks, a lot has been written and said about the "change" that is required in our political structure, policing, intelligence etc. etc.
Everyone is speaking of Change... its the new buzzword. But the dark truth is hardly anyone wants the be the Agent of Change. As Flight Lt. Ajay Rathod says is Rang de Basanti, " If we want change, we have to be the agents of Change."
